I hope your last days of summer were pleasant and you soaked up as much as you could.  In other parts of the country it probably still feels like summer but here in New England fall has arrived!  And if winter didn't come next, I'd be thrilled beyond words. :) We've already gone apple picking and to a local, annual fair...some of my favorite fall traditions!  The day we went to the fair it was a bit muddy and rainy.  So instead of wearing the typical warm and cozy Ugg boots I'd wear.  I wore these-remember, from this post?  They were perfect since they are leather and can wipe off easily.  Plus they kept my feet nice and warm during the cool and soggy day.  Function and Fashion?  Yes Please! Speaking of fall, it's also my favorite time of year for fashion!  And according to Lucky Magazine fashion editor, Eleanor Strauss, "The color burgundy is huge for fall..."  I have been seeing burgundy tones everywhere.  Here are just a few burgundy items I've scouted:

1. TopShop Structured Blazer in Aubergine (Tall).  This blazer is gorgeous!  The color is perfect and the structured shape is right on.  It would look great with cords, jeans, a pencil skirt, or straight slacks.  So versatile.

2. Gap 1969 Legging Cords in Vamp Red (Tall). Don't even get me started on these.  They are perfect. 

3. TopShop Chunky Mesh Jumper in Burgundy (Tall). Remember this post?  This is the perfect piece to transition the open weave + colored denim trend into fall.

4. Essie - 4 Piece Cube Fall Collection 2012. As you've heard me say, when it's tough to find a trend in tall sizes, incorporate it into your accessories.  The "Skirting the Issue" tone in this quartet is a beautiful saturated shade of deep burgundy.  The other shades are perfect for fall-"Don't Sweater it,"
Head Mistress," and "Stylenomics."

5. MAC Lipstick (Winner) in Media. For $15 you can incorporate the burgundy trend into your look. 

6. Big Buddha Bowery in Burgundy. Another accessory to add to your wardrobe.  A deep burgundy structured hobo.

And if you're not a fan of burgundy, why not try these other fall shades?

1. Steven by Steve Madden 'Intyce' Boot in Cognac Leather. Up to size 12. I have a pair of Steve Madden boots in this Cognac shade and trust me when I say-they match everything! 

2. Long Tall Sally Crew Neck Cardigan in Amber. This golden tone has always been a favorite.  Cardigans are essential for layering during fall days that start out cold, warm up, and end with a chill.

3. Gap Striped Merino Crew Pullover in Festive Orange (Tall). Festive Orange?  Doesn't that sound like the perfect sweater to wear to Thanksgiving dinner or while trick-or-treating with your kids?!

4. Old Navy Women's The Sweetheart Perfect Khakis in Deep Berry (Tall). Another trend for fall is jewel tones.  This purple reminded me of that.  It would look great paired with the amber cardigan.  

Men:

   Fear not.  You too can get in on the burgundy/fall color palette trend: 

For once, it's easier to find a trend in menswear-you all have loved this "safe" and flattering color far longer than us gals have.

1. English Laundry Trim Fit Dress Shirt (Tall). I love this classic shirt.  It's stylish without being trendy.

2.Wallin & Bros. 'Workwear' Chambray Sport Shirt (Tall).   If you read the newsletters you know how much I love chambray.  It's always fun to combine trends.  Chambray + Burgundy = winning combination!

3. Old Navy Men's Argyle V Neck Sweaters (Tall). My husband has many old navy sweaters.  They mix and match well and the price can't be beat!

5. Gap Docking Jacket (Tall). Easy way to incorporate burgundy.  Perfect jacket for fall.
