Hi Tall Friends,

I have a big "look" here with lots of tips/descriptions so I'm going to get right to it!

Fall Trend Alert: Equestrian Wear
This is a trend that continues to resurface over the years.  Every once in a while it makes sense to hold on to those $200 riding boots you scored for $50.  Bargain shopping becomes me.  But enough about me.   Let's get YOU some equestrian inspired pieces.
equestrian look for tall women

When I think of equestrian wear, I think of riding boots (obviously) a long blazer, and a turtleneck or sharp button up. However, I'm always careful to make sure I don't look like I'm in costume, when wearing a trend modeled after something that exists in real life. You don't want to look like you're on your way to a riding competition! You just want a few pieces that give a nod to the look you're trying to recreate. In this case I think the boots really get the point across without going overboard.

Sources (from left to right):

Ann Taylor Black Tall Leah Triacetate Two-Button Jacket: I spent a loooong time searching for the perfect jacket so you wouldn't have to! And I'll be honest; I didn't find EXACTLY what I was looking for. But all of these pieces are gorgeous and certainly make the grade. This jacket is a regular suit jacket and is on sale for 80% off! Yes, you read that right. The beauty of this piece is you could wear it with the skinny jeans pictured on the weekend and wear it with black slacks on Monday! Gotta love items that do double duty!

Gap Piped Academy Blazer (Tall): I love this blazer. In fact I was looking for something similar to this but hip length. The piping really gives it the extra oomph--making it appear not only stylish but well made. And it comes in 5 cool color combos.

Fitted boyfriend tattersol ruffle shirt (Tall): Rather than go with the turtleneck (and risk looking like we're trying too hard), I chose this feminine button up with the ruffle detail. It would also look so cute with cords and more casual shearling boots.

Ann Taylor Deep Harbour Tall Compact Doubleweave One Button Jacket: I love this jacket also. And similar to the other Ann Taylor number, it can pull double duty. It's a bit shorter but if you have a shorter torso and longer legs this would be perfect to balance your frame.

The Limited Shrunken Plaid Jacket: This is the only non-tall item featured, but I couldn't help myself! I will say I have a couple of jackets from the Limited and they do run long. IN addition, the sleeves from the tall gap shirt could peek out underneath so you wouldn't have that awful sleeves-too-short-for-my-long-arms problem! I love the plaid and the fact that the arms are longer while the bodice is shorter. I also love the idea of wearing a finer plaid print with a bold plaid. Definitely one worth trying!

Corso Como "Sire" Boot: these boots are awesome-which may be why they are only left in a 10 and an 11.5. They are the perfect riding boot and could also be worn with military details for a military look (remember this post?!).

Camden Skinny Jeans : I wanted to choose a pair of skinny jeans that would fit nicely into boots but not steal the show. Dark wash is best for this look since it's a classic more refined look. These come in 36 and 38 inch inseam.

Corso Como "Richmond" Boot (sizes 10-13 (minus 11) various colors: These boots come in sizes 10 to 13 (but sold out in size 11) in various colors. Again, a perfect riding boot to complement this equestrian look.

Howdy Partner
This week's partner spotlight is on Steve Madden . I have been a fan of Steve Madden for a long time...and their line "Steven." The shoes are stylish without being ubiquitous. You can also find trends from much higher end brands at much more affordable price within the Steve Madden brand. Now they are no Barefoot Tess when it comes to large sizes; in fact their sizes only go up to a size 11 but if you wear a 10 or an 11, it's definitely worth checking out. For men, they go up to a size 13. They also have a great collection of accessories suitable for any height or shoe size! :)
