Hi Tall Friends, Did you miss me last week? My sweet girl Nadia turned one and I was busy planning a Circus 1st
Birthday bash for her. The party was a success but I am still recuperating! One way this ties into Tall Clothing? My outfit! I have an obsession with "matching the party," and really wanted to wear red, aqua, and/or pink. Well how glad am I that I featured colored jeans 1200 times (ok, maybe 10 times) on the blog and/or in these newsletters?! During my colored denim obsession, I purchased these
in bright red. I paired them with an aqua gingham shirt, painted my toenails pink, and voila, I matched the party and felt fresh and fun!

Do you know what I love about fall? Besides the crisp cool weather, the gorgeous foliage, and the excuse to eat anything apple? The clothes! I love jackets, boots, cords, chunky sweaters, lightweight scarves, and more. I know summer is fun but fall is the perfect season for style. I could focus on many of those categories, but today I'm just going to share a few picks. Here are some of my favorite lightweight jackets in tall sizes and the bonus? They are all under $100!

Tall charcoal swing coat. Tall French terry pleated coat
. Tall Hooded Anorak. I love that you can wear lightweight jackets in the fall. No need for bulky coats over bulky sweaters. Yet. These few are stylish and functional. I love the shape of the
grey Dorothy Perkins swing coat. The color is classic but the puff sleeves keep it interesting. The Gap French terry pleated coat also has a flattering shape. The A-line style covers a multitude of sins! Gap had a version of this last year and I wish I'd bought it. Not sure I can pass it up two seasons in a row. Lastly, the Old Navy Anorak. I am such a fan of anoraks. The older I get the more I'm a fan of any clothing that incorporates style with comfort. I love the extra details on this one and you can't beat the price!
Next up? My picks for jeans. What is it about fall that makes even those of us not going back to school think we need new jeans?! It's ingrained in us. Marketing works folks. Well here are a few of my favorite pairs:

NYDJ 'Marilyn' Straight Leg Stretch Jeans (Long).
Tall 1969 modern trouser jeans. MiH Marrakesh Kick Flare Jeans.
Noticing a trend? I love dark rinse jeans. They flatter all body types. And everyone should own a pair. Yes, that means YOU ☺. The Not Your Daughter's 'Marilyn'
is a perfect go-to pair of jeans for anyone over the age of 30. Seriously- who of us couldn't use a little compression and shaping?! I personally don't own a pair of NYDJ (yet) but I've heard great things about them and for sure, see a pair in my future. This particular pair has a 35 inch inseam. I love that they are slim without being super skinny (which might make some women nervous). They are current, yet not trendy, and totally flattering. What more could you ask for? The next pair-Gap Tall Modern Trouser-have so many features I Love: high rise? Check. Dark wash? Check. Slim/Fitted through thigh? Check. Long inseam? Check (38 to be exact). LOVE it. Lastly, the MiH kick flare
. Very similar to the Gap pair, except premium denim (which I have to tell you- does make a difference!). This pair has a 36 inch inseam.

Gap 1969 Modern Trouser Jeans. Here's what I had to say about them then: "
If you're afraid of the flare, try a wide legged trouser. This silhouette is particularly flattering on curves. I actually bought this very pair for myself around Christmas time, but you know who else I purchased them for? My mom-who is in her mid 50s. I can tell you that she never would have bought them for herself. But she said, and I quote, "These are the best pair of jeans I've ever owned." End quote! She is curvy and a size 10. These jeans are very slimming. I recently visited her and she wore them with a white blouse and a pair of red wedges. I couldn't have been prouder! She looked amazing! ..."

Blair boasts a big and tall section for men that you'll definitely want to have in your tall clothing resource list. They also have shoes in up to size 16. Their site reminds me a bit of King Size. It's not flashy or fancy but there's a plethora of great basics. 
Here are a few of my Blair picks for the fall season: 
Lambskin Leather Blazer. John Blair Jog Suit
. Pullover Vest.
Every man should have a stylish blazer in his wardrobe. This one is lambskin leather and the perfect color for fall. As for the jog suit, I have to say, I would not advise that you wear a jog suit unless you are jogging. Or 75. (If you're 75, you can wear whatever you want). However, I love the thought of wearing this jog suit jacket with a pair of running errands or going out to play with your kids. Lastly the pullover vest is a perfect work option. Although I have to ask- does anyone else think of Chandler (of "Friends" when they hear "sweater vest." No? It's just me? Ok, moving on...). Pair with a bold patterned dress shirt to keep from looking too buttoned up. |
