Tall Clothing Mall Newsletter July 18, 2012 |
Today I want to continue from where I left off last week. Last week I talked about a trend that can seamlessly transition from summer to fall. Last week's trend was chambray. This week I wanted to highlight another trend that is easy to wear into the somewhat cooler months- and that is the maxi dress. I'm going to be honest; I'm kind of sick of hearing about maxi dresses. Yes, they're comfy. They're flattering. They're everywhere. Yada yada yada. That's how I felt until I started researching to find one to highlight in this week's newsletter. And as I perused long, flowy, gorgeous dress after dress, I became a believer. Again. Rather than show you umpteen maxi dresses, I decided to style one for you- for summer and for fall. The minute I laid my eyes on this gorgeous jewel toned dress, I fell in love. Although it's not a "tall" size, it's very long. The model is 5'9" and is wearing heels. Not to mention she's modeling a size small (the larger the size, typically the longer the length). I love the color and the loose bodice. It's a bit bohemian (a style that I love), and I decided to embrace that style for the summer look. However you could easily make it more polished or glam by layering a blazer over it, wearing it with mixed metals, and ethnic print wedges.
No longer available in this red shade but I wanted to include detail shots. Personally I'm a fan of the "antique moss" shade anyway!]
This week's partner spotlight is on Athleta. Since it's part of the huge conglomerate known as GAP, it might seem like an obvious source for tall clothing. But it's so easy to forget stores that aren't brick and mortar so I figured I'd remind you! Athleta is your go-to source for functional, athletic, and lifestyle wear. But the thing I like about it is that they don't forsake form for function. These looks are stylish, flattering, and attractive!
Here are a few of my favorite picks:
