Hello Tall Guys & Gals,

I missed you last week! I was having fun visiting family and friends in the great state of Texas. Remember the wet weather wear feature from two weeks ago? Well lucky me- I didn't have to worry about it! The weather was phenomenal. And even better, I returned to New Hampshire to a week full of temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Oh sweet summer. Of course today it is rainy and in the 40s but I can't really complain can I? I hope you all had a great week and enjoyed some mild weather!

News and Updates

Over the past two weeks, Krista's been busy posting lots of great trends, reviews, sales alerts, and style guides at the Tall Clothing Mall blog and Tallsnob.com. I also posted Resort Wear Part II (as promised a few weeks ago) and Style Advice on how to wear color. Some of my favorite posts include " Tall Paisley Prints", and " Spring Layering for Men The Paisley Prints post includes some of the cutest Paisley Prints ever and all in tall sizes (including tunics, capris, swimwear, and scarves just to name a few)! I am in love with those shorts! And the post for men? Well typically when I think of layering I think of women- accessories, scarves, etc. But this post is a great reminder that men can get in on this practical trend as well. If you haven't checked them out yet, please do! I guarantee you'll find at least one (probably more) lust worthy article, piece of advice, or clothing item!
Tips and Trends:
Prom season is upon us! I thought I'd focus on special occasion dresses fit for tall women in this week's tips and trends. Whether you're in high school, the parent of a high schooler, or have a special event or wedding to attend, these looks are sure to make you happy. These dresses are at various price points. Here are some of my picks for the tall special occasion attendee:

1. Glamour Girl This dress is perfect because it's classy, original, beautiful, and long! The long bodice is perfect for a long torso. This dress is so stunning on its own; you could go simple with the rest of your ensemble.
2. Fun and Playful  If you're worried about a dress hitting you at that awkward spot on your ankles, this is a fantastic option. Because it's meant to show your shoes, it gives you an excuse to buy an amazing sparkly pair. I'd style this adorable dress with bright shoes and a bright clutch. It also comes in a shade of shocking pink.

3. Grecian Goddess. This is another great option for a tall girl. The handkerchief hem and three band waist makes it easy to adjust to your height and look tailored specifically for you. Going with the Grecian theme, I'd wear a braid wrapped around my hair, and metallic accessories.

1. Short and Sweet If you're nervous about finding an ankle length dress long enough, why not go short? This coral color is fabulous and very hot this spring. I love pairing gold, silver, or turquoise with coral.

2. Belle of the Ball. Although this dress is floor length, the layers and tulle make it appropriate to be a little shorter and show off your shoes. You could even tailor it to make it tea length. With the sparkly bodice, shimmery pink belt, and tulle, I'm thinking you could go ballerina-esque with your accessories. Round toe heels, pink pearl jewelry, and a top bun (use extensions to make it BIG!) would look fabulous!

Alternative Picks:

These picks strike me as dresses for the girl who doesn't really want to go to prom. You know what I mean right? The girl who's a little alternative and is just ready to graduate from high school so she can be an individual already!

1. Mad (wom)Men. I love this tailored option. It's tea length but on a tall girl would look quite appropriate hitting above the knee. In keeping with the Mad Men theme, I'd go totally retro with this. Why not try finger waves in your hair or a chic chignon? Wear pearls and pumps!

2. Bohemian Beauty. With its chiffon layer, it's a little easier to cheat and get away with this dress being a bit shorter than intended. I'd keep accessories simple- maybe nude strappy sandals and wooden jewelry? For hair, why not go with a piece-y look if your hair is short? If it's long, a side braid or a messy bun would do the trick.

Extras For The Modest Ladies

Many gals desire stylish prom dresses, but with a bit more coverage. If you feel like your dress may be a bit too revealing, I don't want you to feel uncomfortable all night. An easy fix is to add a bolero jacket or a shrug and you can instantly transform your dress without looking like a matronly grandma.

1. Sequin Shrug  gorgeous, and it's on sale too!

2. Silver Sequin Shrug - a bit pricey, but nice solution to backless dresses.

3. Bolero and Shrug Patterns If you are crafty, you can easily make your own bolero or shrug. Here are 3 patterns that take between 10-30 minutes to make.
