Jan 16, 2012

Hello Tall Guys & Gals,

First let me wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were fun, festive, and you got plenty of amazing gifts from people who shop through Tall Clothing Mall.

I'd like to make a few announcements regarding some changes and happenings at Tall Clothing Mall.

From Krista:

First off, the 5 year anniversary of Tall Clothing Mall is fast approching us. It's January 24th. Can you believe it's been that long? It seems like yesterday we were just trying to figure out what we wanted to accomplish here and how to help tall people find clothing that fits! We're gearing up for a fun week with lots of giveaways. If you are reading this newsletter and you work at a tall store, contact us immediately if you would like to offer a giveaway product or a gift card.

Next, I'd like to welcome Tiffany DeLangie, another Tall Fashionista, back from maternity leave. She offers great advice and you may be familiar with some of her style articles under the "Diary of a Tall Fashionista" series. She is a 6' tall mother of two who is fashion obsessed and loves to find designer fashions on sale. Tiffany is writing the rest of this newsletter. Enjoy!

From Tiffany:

Thanks Krista! I have rejoined Krista in her venture to bring tall fashions to the masses through the resources available at Tall Clothing Mall. I will be contributing to the Tall Clothing Mall Blog as well as Tall Snob. I plan to bring you updates, advice, outfit ideas, fashion tips and tricks, and an overall challenge to embrace your height by wearing amazing clothes that are on trend and most importantly fit your gorgeous tall frame! I am passionate about fashion in general, but specifically about tall men and women wearing clothes that highlight one of their best features--their height!

Also, soon you will see a new look at Tall Snob. Be prepared to be wowed by some changes that are not only easier on the eyes, but make it easier for you to find the resources you're looking for.

Focus on Fitness:

Now that the holidays have come to a close, it's time to embrace winter; if the weather where you live is anything like the weather here in New England where I live, Winter has officially arrived! Rather than hibernate like we can be so tempted to do this time of year, use it to focus on fitness. It's time to get in shape and get ready for Spring and Summer! Does anyone else blink and realized it's time to get into a swimsuit?! Yikes! Maybe I'm naïve but I think we work out more effectively if we look good doing it! This entire last week we have focused on tall workout clothing. We posted a daily series at Tall Snob with women's tall workout clothes, so be sure to check it out! We also updated our men's tall workout pants section . Guys, we continually search for exercise pants that look and fit great. So far we've had zero luck finding anything longer than a 37" inseam, but I promise you, we'll keep looking! If you've found a pair that you love, please share and we'll pass it on.

Getting Social:

We're really happy today! Why? It's because we now have over 1000 followers on Twitter over 500 on Facebook, and over 1200 subscribe to our newsletter. So, we're giving one of you a $25 gift card to Shoes.com. The lucky number from our newsletter is:

random tall clothing mall winner

It looks like Rachel R Baum is the winner. Please email us to claim your prize. And don't delay! Why? Because Shoes.com is offering an extra 25% off clearance items with promo code 25SALE (ends 1/17).

Sales and Discounts

Tall Clothing Mall recognizes that sometimes it's necessary to spend a bit of dough to get clothes that fit your tall figure. We all love a good sale, but know that tall sizes are made in limited quantities, so they often are gone before the price drops. So, if you see something you love, don't contemplate too long. That said, when holiday weekends come around it's the perfect time to get the items for which you just can't justify paying full price. Today is Martin Luther King Day and retailers are honoring the doctor with sales galore. Visit Tall Clothing Mall's sale page to get discount codes and sale alerts. Here are a few sales to get you started:

(was $135) This is now $14 less than what she paid for it.{Don't tell her!} This is the 'Tall Girl' brand which is a store now closed because it was purchased by Long Tall Sally. I'm not sure why some of the inventory wasn't purchased and is still floating around at different stores, but we'd all better snag these up before they are gone.

Check out the sale sections for even more deals. If you miss the MLK sales, there will be incredible clearance sales going on the entire month of January.

Tips and Trends:

I don't know about you, but I'm seeing a lot of fur and shearling this season. And since it's crazy cold outside it's a perfect way to stay warm while still looking chic. And men, don't think this trend is just for the ladies! You might have heard a little buzz about Tom Brady being a spokesperson for Ugg Australia. I heard the same thing and immediately thought that was an odd match. Upon further research, I was surprised at the options available for men. Take these for example:

ugg butte plaid

Totally masculine, totally utilitarian, totally hip, totally YOU. Click here to find these and other options. For women, I'll admit it's a lot easier to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe. While tall fashion has come a long way, I still find that sometimes to incorporate a trend, I have to do it with accessories. I came across this adorable bag today:

fur handbag

Cute right?! Check out this page to for the above fur handbag and other fur options. And be looking for an entire outfit idea featuring this adorable little accessory to grace the blog soon! Accessorizing is an easy way to add some pizzazz to your wardrobe, especially if you can't find the tall version of your favorite trend or if you're a little too timid to embrace it wholeheartedly. Want another way to add this trend without going overboard? How about a little removable fur collar? (item #871128)

Such an easy update on a classic! Be sure to stay tuned to the blog for other tips and trends.

Ciao for now! Stay warm!

People would kill for your height so remember to stand tall!
